What if this was the case? That somehow George Lucas got his hands on, and full control over, The Lord Of The Rings instead of Peter Jackson & co? It would be so sad sad sad.
Disclaimer: Of course i don’t wish George Lucas dead. Only Jar Jar. I wish George Lucas a long and prosperous life far far away from any movie making.

I can get your frustration, but consider this. Lucas is a good director. He is a good producer. He’s good at technology and pushing the limits of what we can do. He is responsible for editing set ups professionals still used today. That said, he is a terrible writer. Jar Jar was a terrible idea. He was terribly executed as a character and was certainly annoying. But, all said, I think Lucas could have done a good job on Lord of the Rings… but not as good as Peter Jackson. Lucas loves his technology, and I fear much of the lush reality taken from New Zealand would have been lost in favor of, potentially beautiful, computer backgrounds. I would suspect that would epitomize the difference.
